District Council 9 Painters and Wall-coverers Vote to Ratify 5 Year Contract
DC 9 Painter and Wall-coverer Local Unions of New York City, Long Island, Westchester and Putnam Counties Vote to Ratify 5-year contract that covers over 4,000 union members
New York, NY – District Council 9 Painters and Wall-coverers of the Greater New York City Area voted to ratify a five-year term contract by an overwhelming majority. With over 90% of voting members casting a YES ballot, the contract was passed and will take effect May 1, 2019. The contract covers all Painter and Wall-coverer Local Unions of Westchester, Putnam, Bronx, Manhattan, Richmond, Kings, Queens, Nassau and Suffolk Counties including over 4,000 working men and women.
“The ratification of this contract sets the stage for the next 5 years for over 4,000 hardworking men and women throughout New York City, Long Island, Westchester and Putnam Counties. I’m proud of our members for coming together and voting in favor of a good agreement that benefits the members and the industry at large. With the future of the construction industry continuing to look bright, we are ready to go to work and continue to set the standard for painting and wall-covering in New York,” said Joseph Azzopardi, Business Manager/Secretary Treasurer of District Council 9.

This new contract gives District Council 9 and its members the tools we need to continue to grow and improve the quality of work in our industry.”
